12-Year Aged Balsamic Vanilla Ice Cream
A friend of mine made this decadent dessert for me, and I basically melted while eating the whole thing. It is so simple that it should be a sin. Just take any regular old vanilla icecream, fresh strawberries sliced thinly and the most important ingredient is the 12-year aged balsamic vinegar that you drizzle atop both ingredients.
This balsamic vinegar is special because after being aged for 12-year's in oak barrels it reduces down to a thicker consistency than your regular store bought balsamic vinegar. With age it also becomes naturally sweeter. So as you take a big spoonful of this dessert the rich acidity of the vinegar hits you immediately but then the sweetness of both the vinegar and vanilla icecream consumes your mouth, with a quick taste of the even added sweetness of the strawberries. It is really something hard to comprehend unless you try it.
You can purchase the aged balsamic vinegar here. I hope you try it and enjoy it as much as I did.
